Fairmeadow Elementary Updates 12.3.21
Hello Fairmeadow Families,
We had a very busy week coming back from Thanksgiving Break. On Tuesday, Fairmeadow had an outdoor assembly with the Mobile Dairy Classroom, where our Firebirds had an opportunity to learn about the connection between agriculture and the food we eat. This assembly also integrated Language Arts, Math and Science, bringing the farm experience to students through agricultural literacy. Our students also had a chance to meet Buttercup (a live cow) and her calf (see attached photos)! We are also in the last few weeks of our lunchtime Noon Sports program for the fall. Our students are excited about the elimination rounds where all ten teams get an opportunity to play against another team and ultimately be the "champions" of Rounders. Even though these games are for fun, our students are really engaged and competitive. Hopefully, you've been hearing about Noon Sports from your 1st through 5th grader!
A very special and huge shout out and thank you to PTA for providing the Fairmeadow staff with a latte cart and donuts this morning. It was a wonderful way to start our beautiful Friday. Here are some updates:
Second Harvest Food Bank- We are still in the midst of our annual community service project and will be collecting monetary donations for our Second Harvest Food Bank drive until December 15th. Please see this flyer (and attached) for more information. Thank you all for supporting this very important cause, so far we've raised over $250 and hope to reach our goal of $2,500. Remember, $1 provides two meals for families in need. If you would prefer to submit a credit card donation, here is Fairmeadow's direct online fundraising link: https://impact.shfb.org/team/390695. This link is also provided in the information flyer mentioned above.
Book Fair-Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Fairmeadow next week (December 6-10)! Your child will have an opportunity to browse through the book fair and make purchases when they visit the book fair during the school day with their class. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to browse and enter the MP room to make purchases after school hours. Please note, we will continue to follow safety guidelines when on campus, so please make sure you wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and keep your visit brief. Do not come on to campus if you are not feeling well.
Counseling Corner- Here is the December edition of Andrea Saxerud's Counseling Corner filled with wonderful kindness activities and goal-setting ideas for our students! Click here.
Minimum Day- Friday, December 17, whole school dismissal at 1:25 pm.
Winter Break- No school Monday, December 20 through January 3rd. School resumes January 4th.
Have a fabulous weekend!
