Fairmeadow Update 8.26.2020
Happy Wednesday Fairmeadow Families,
As we embark well into our second week of distance learning, I want to extend my gratitude to all parents for being such wonderful partners on this journey. Distance learning truly is a team sport, and we appreciate your help in getting your child(ren) logged in throughout the day, getting accustomed to Schoology, and reminding them of technology use expectations. We hope your child(ren) are beginning to get settled with the routine of their class and their day. I've had the pleasure of visiting all classrooms, and it makes my heart smile seeing our students. It's been such a treat to listen in on some of the community building activities our students are participating in. I've also enjoyed meeting our newest and youngest Firebirds in the kindergarten classes.
Here are this week's updates:
Technology - Thank you for letting me and your child's teacher know about technology issues. We've been able to resolve some (not all) issues quickly. We are finding that most of the issues are more on the technical side that may require professional technological support. Please submit a help ticket. Our district personal actively checks these help tickets and someone will respond to your help ticket as soon as possible.
Schoology Tip - As I mentioned in last week's communication, parents/guardians have the option to receive Schoology messages emailed directly to them (as opposed to logging in to Schoology to check messages). I wanted to share another tip with you. Once you've elected to receive Schoology messages in your email inbox, you can reply directly to the Schoology message by clicking "reply" within the email.
Back-to-School - I hope you all were able to take a look at the Back-to-School "packet" that is available digitally this year. Here is the website that will bring you directly to the information. I've also attached the Partners in Education (PiE) information sheet as well (in English, Spanish, Mandarin). The need for parent PiE support is still here and greater than ever. There is also a donation/pledge Challenge Grant that is currently going on. If you donate/pledge by September 8th, your donation will be doubled!
Virtual Happy Hour with PTA - a casual and fun way to connect with Fairmeadow families…so far they've hosted two events at various times. Hope you can join in the near future. For more information please check your Konstella emails as well as our PTA website click here.
Parent Volunteers Needed - Thank you again to those who've signed up to volunteer during these challenging times. Parent help is still needed more than ever, even throughout distance learning. We are in need of Project Cornerstone Volunteers as well as PTA Room Parents. Please email your classroom teacher as soon as you can so we can get these positions set up.
PAUSD in Spanish - On August 27th, 7:00 PM, our wonderful Claudia Quiroga Cortez will be doing a presentation (in Spanish) about Schoology, Infinite Campus and Understanding School Communications. There will also be an introduction of the Board of Education and District Leaders. Here is the Zoom link.
As always, do not hesitate to reach out to me or your classroom teacher for any questions you may have.
Iris Wong, Fairmeadow Principal
